Ever since her move to the United States for college golf, Botswana has seen an increase in the number of girls playing the sport and Botswana recently sent the first junior girls' team to an international tournament in 14 years.

Ouname Mhotsha was born in Gaborone, Botswana. She is the oldest child with three siblings, her two brothers, and one sister.

Academic Achievements

In the year 2014, Ouname Mhotsha first attended the University of Botswana, majoring in B. A Economics & Accounting. She later transfered to Alcorn State University in the year 2017 to major in  B. S Agriculture Economics. Ouname Completed Her Masters In Forest Resources From The University Of Arkansas At Monticello In 2021.

Junior Golf

In 2008, at the age of 13, she qualified for the Junior Botswana National Team. Two years later she was able to qualify for the Senior team as a junior golfer.

She went on to represent her collge’s golf teams in numerous tournaments. Captaining the University of Arkansas in Monticello Women’s Golf Team to their first win in 2 years.
